Stand Firm Apologetics Club Website

"But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone that asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.  1 Peter 3:15

The word "answer" in 1 Peter 3:15 comes from the Greek word apologia. Apologia is 1) a verbal defense, a speech in defense         2) a reasoned statement or argument. Apologetics is  the branch of Christian theology concerned with the intelligent presentation and defense of the historical Christian faith -  It is defending Christianity.

On this site we will provide resources so that you can be better equipped to give an answer the next time someone asks you to give the reason for the hope that is in you.

You are invited to join the Stand Firm Apologetics Club for 2011-2012!

The Stand Firm Apologetics/Speech Club is designed to be “stand-alone” Apologetics/Speech training and/or an expansion of your NCFCA or Stoa Apologetics preparation.  We meet every other Friday from 1:30 to 5:30 pm at Faith Bible Church. Our primary focus is learning to defend the faith and build a set of prepared apologetic responses, speaking and impromptu skills, biblical and competing world views, inductive bible study methods, interpretive events, sermon writing, and basic theology.  We use interactive games and methods whenever possible to keep all ages engaged.

In addition to NCFCA/Stoa card preparation and practice, events such as Dramatic Individual Interpretation, Scripture Interp, Sermon Writing/Delivery, Worldview Oratory, Impromptu, and Biblical Theme Skit are all part of our final tournament day. For example, Pastor Timothy found this Scripture Interpretation of a portion of Hebrews.

This year we are adding Expository to the list of events and using different books for class reading and study! Details will be coming in August.

NOTE:  ***  Romans 1:18-23 will be the passage which we will use for the sermon delivery training next year. ***

Students ages 10-19+ are welcome. Parents are expected to give their students some guidance and assistance at home on portions of the homework, especially if they are in the younger age range or are new to Apologetics Club.
Estimated homework time is 2-4 hours per week depending on class level and computer skills.  More hours are needed in second semester as we prepare for tournament events and finish cards whereas the first semester homework probably takes less time, especially for the experienced students.

The club cost for the entire year will be 65$ per family (for one student) and $10 for each additional student from the same family.
The fees are due by November 1st and cover class books and participation/awards in the club tournament.  No extra text book purchases will be required.   Families/students will be asked to access biblical resources from a suggested list of available books and internet sources as they research.  The schedule for the year is below.

Come and experience club for a few weeks and make a final decision by the end of October.  By then, you will know if Stand Firm Apologetics/Speech Club suits your family.

Younger siblings are welcome to attend and participate or play quietly in the room. No nursery is provided but rooms are available.  Parents are always welcome and are usually put to work with simple assisting tasks but parents are not required to attend all the meetings.
