How to Write a Card Set in Microsoft Word 2010

 

  • Open Microsoft word

  • Select the “page layout” tab at the top of the page

    • Change the page size to 4” by 6”

    • Change the orientation from portrait to landscape

    • The margins should be set at 0.5” on all sides so you have enough room to type.

  • Double click above the margin line to create a header

    • Type your card code, select it, and put it on the right hand side

  • Double click within the margins to fill in your outline card.

    • Type your speech topic in bold size 16 font and center it.

      (use size 12 font for the rest of the card)

    • To create a line underneath your topic push and hold the shift and underscore buttons until there is a line across most of your card. Push enter.

    • Under the line, type the category number and subject (Category 2: Scriptures)

    • This is your outline card so type Introduction, 1, 2, 3, and conclusion in outline form.

    • Then fill in this outline with phrases that summarize what you plan to talk about in each point.

  • Double click under the margin line to create a footer.

    • At the top of the page click “page number”.

    • Select “Current position”

    • Choose the option that says “page 1 of 1” (the fifth one from the bottom) and center it.

  • The next card is your introduction card. Type introduction at the top and then add what you plan to say in your introduction.

The next card is your first point. Copy the line from your outline that summarizes your first point. Paste it to this page. Under it write what you plan to say in that point. Continue this until you have completed your speech.

How to Write a Card set with Open Office
 
 
  • To format your page click the Format button on the tool bar. Click page. A window will pop up. You will need to change a few things on this window.

  • First, click on the “page” tab. The page size should be changed to 6” (wide) and 4” (high). The page margins should be changed to 0.5”.

  • Next, click on the “header” tab and select header on.

  • Lastly, click the footer tab and select “footer on” and push OK. Your page is formatted

  • Put the card code in the right hand side of the header. In size 12 Times New Roman font

  • Type your speech topic in bold size 15 font and center it.

  • Put a line under your speech topic by pressing shift and underscore at the same time.

  • On the next line type the category number and title. (Category 1: Existence and nature of God)

  • This is your outline card so put the outline of your speech - Intro, 3 points, and Conclusion.

  • Fill in your outline with a summary of what each point is about

  • To insert a page number and a page count, put your cursor in the footer. Find insert on the tool bar and select fields and then page number. A number 1 should appear in the footer. Go back to insert, select fields and then page count. Another 1 should appear. Type the word “of” between the numbers.

  • On the next card copy and paste your outline. Under “introduction” type what you plan to say in your intro. Under your first point type what you want to say there Etc. Etc. Until you have typed your whole speech.

  • Save file as: Card code (your name) for example: 1D:1(Crystal C.)
